Happy 80th Birthday!

My grandpa turns 80 on Saturday.  Gosh, it's so hard to believe he's 80 already...in my mind he's still as young as he was when I was just a tiny tot.  My family is very close, and he has been a large part of my life.  I have tons of memories with him...going to the summer carnival his work threw when I was little...going to visit him in Anaheim when I was 7... (we went to Disneyland every day for a month...he was the best tea-cup ride spinner I've ever seen.)...being forced to sit in the living room and watch operas with him (and finding out that I actually enjoyed them).  I'm very lucky to have had this much time with him, and hope to have many more years.

When he was younger, his friend's brother had a taxi service, and a plane out at our local tiny airport.  Grandpa used to drive a taxi for his friend's brother in exchange for flying lessons.  When I saw this Stampers Anonymous set, I knew it would be perfect for this special birthday. (The compass and map stamps came from the set.) I then found a fabulous biplane image at My Grafico.  Of course, I just had to make it vintage.  The arrow and metal embellishments are from Tim Holtz.  It's kind of hard to see, but the charm with the "L" carved out says "lifetime"  and the other tag says "journey".  Lifetime journey...I thought that was a pretty perfect sentiment.

Well, anyway, I really hope he likes this.  I feel pretty safe posting it....I don't think he even knows I have a blog, let alone checks it! LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by!  We'll see you soon.
