Clean and Simple

Ok, so I'm finishing up the weekly challenges for the Outlawz.  Below I've posted the most recent cards.  Only one more to go for the month of January!  Yay!  I'm kind of proud of myself for having kept up with all of the challenges all three weeks.....let's see if I can keep it going!

Anyway, here are the cards.  I've still got some work to do on learning the CAS style, but the more I practice the easier it will get.  Hope you like them!  =)

This card was created for the January 24 Birthday Challenge (primary color = red) and the January 23 CAS challenge. (sketch)

This card was created for the January 30th CAS Challenge (anything goes) and the January 25 Color Challenge (orange, cream and grey).

Well, that's all!  It's late and I've done three posts today....definitely time to get some sleep.  =)  Have a great week!

Vintage Valentine

My mom and I take a lot of card classes, but we don't give away our "sample" cards...so no one ever sees them!  I feel like although these aren't our designs...we work hard on them and deserve a little bragging rights!  So I've decded to start posting them, of course giving credit to the wonderful people who designed them in the first place.   Thus begins my first class post......Archiver's Vintage Valentine Card Workshop!

This was SUCH a fun class!  Lots of Tim Holtz, lots of distressing....some of my favorite things!

This first card we created using a Tim Holtz die and the new Vagabond...so awesome!  Add a little embossing (dry and wet), Stickles and Crackle Paint (YAY!)...and you come up with a pretty fun little card.

This card was SO MUCH FUN to make! Mostly because of the new Paper Blossoms flower punches.  These are awesome!  I love the little curling tools...you can't tell by the picture, but it makes the flowers really come alive!  Be prepared, though....it can be a little time-intensive...but worth it!  Okay, enough gushing.  Other than the flowers, we used some more distressing, distressed embossing powder with a Tim Holtz stamp, and some Pearls mist.  Very fun!

This card is a simple, easy to make, beautiful card!  Stamping on canvas, embossing, distressing....oh my!  Love it, and love the little pin through the heart.  I really like having the little pins in my creations...maybe I should start actually using them!  =)

And the final card...which is actually one of my favorites.  I love the two layer look we did with this...especially having some of the stamp on each level.  We used the Texture Boutique for this one...distressing (notice a theme here? LOL) and some awesome stamps.

This class is such a blast!  If you're interested in taking it, you can go here and see your local Archiver's store calendar.

Card crazy...

So, I've been going crazy with the cards lately.  I recently joined a new community, The Outlawz, and have been having a blast trying to compete in all of the challenges.  Below you will see some of my newest creations...

This was actually not for a challenge.  It is the card I created for SIL's wedding.  It is a stamp by The Greeting Farm, colored by Copic markers and (of course) bling added by some Stickles.

This card was created for my MIL's retirement/birthday card.  It's a Michelle Perkett stamp, and was colored using watercolor pencils and souffle pens. (This was entered in the Outlawz Wed. Sketch challenge and Thursday Prisma and Other Medium challenge.)

And finally, this is my birthday card for DH.  It's a Kenny K Downloads stamp (named Star, so you KNOW I had to get it!) and was colored using Copic markers. (This was entered in the Outlawz Friday Copic Challenge.)

I also made a birthday card for my mom, but that was shown in a previous post.  It was created for the Outlawz Monday Birthday challenge and Tuesday Color challenge.

That's it so far this week...we'll see what I come up with for next week!!

Ladybug Birthday....

Today is my mom's birthday (and DH, and niece....) and my mother loves ladybugs, so I thought this Pink Cat Studio stamp was absolutely perfect for her!

This card was colored using Copic markers.  I gave her the card today and was very happy to see how much she loved it.  (There is a cute little ladybug poem on the inside.)

This card is also being entered in the Aud Sentiments Challenge # 19 (details here) and Digis by Phooka's first ever challenge. (Details here, and so excited to participate in her first challenge!)

Happy New Year!

Well, I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Year!!  Ours was.....kind of disappointing, actually.  My DH's little sister got married on Saturday (and we are so happy for her!!) in Grand Forks, ND.  Both of her older brothers were going to walk her down the aisle and give her away.  Unfortunately, one of the brothers couldn't make it because his wife is pregnant with twins and on bed rest here in the Cities, so it would have been just DH walking with her.

We left for Grand Forks on Friday morning.  After 5 hours of driving, we had made it to Fergus Falls, MN, which is usually only 2 1/2 hours away.  The roads were bad and getting worse, so we decided to be safe and pull over for the night.  The next morning we checked out of the hotel to get going...only to find that due to the blizzard and strong winds every road leaving Fergus Falls was closed.  Highway patrolmen were sitting at the entrance ramps to turn people away.  We ended up spending the entire weekend in Fergus Falls and missed the wedding completely.  It was so very sad; DH was devastated.  We were able to watch the wedding via an Internet feed, but the feed was choppy and we had no audio.  In a few weeks we'll get a copy of the DVD so we can actually watch the wedding. We love SIL and wish her the best...and we'll have to take her and the new hubby out the next time we see them.

Other than that, and STILL being sick, it was a pretty good weekend.  Sigh.  At least we made it through the drives safely.
