True Friends...

Woo hoo!  I finally got to use a Pollycraft stamp that I've been dying to try!

Isn't that puppy just the cutest?!?  I love this stamp.  =)  Anyway, card was created using all kinds of new toys.  First, I got to use my awesome new EC Button Studio.  No more searching for buttons for me!  I can now create my own, out of any kind of paper I want!  Woot!  Next, I got to use my brand new Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  Then, I had my brand new, still in the box Sizzix embossing folder.  (Definitely one of my favorites.)  Oh, and the words on the pink background paper?  Yeah, that's all me.  LOL  I just got a fabulous Hero Arts stamp that is a paragraph in French. (No, ma, I can't read it...the writing's too small!  I couldn't read it in English!  If it was larger...of COURSE I could!  All those years of French...um...yeah.)

I had a really fun time creating this card tonight!  I hope you like it!

I'm entering it in the following challenges:

Moojo!

A few days ago I was joking around with some of the wonderful ladies over at CDAC.  I mentioned that I hadn't been able to create anything with those Anita cow stamps I was so excited about a few posts ago.  I love them, but between my ennui and other factors, I just hadn't gotten around to them yet.  I told them that I was planning on making a card with them this weekend, and they wished me much moojo and to have a mooo-valous time. LOL

Anyway, I achieved my goal and used the stamps today!  Yay!!  Of course, what better challenge to initiate these stamps than an Anita Be Stampin' sketch challenge?!?  Here's the sketch that inspired us this week:

and here is my card!

Stamps were colored using Copics, paper from DCWV.  All papers edged in light green chalk ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Anita Be Stampin' sketch challenge # 13
Digi Doodle Shop's Best # 52: Ribbons and Bows
Guylou's Inimitability: Polkadots

We'll see ya next time!

Finally!

Well, I'm finally posting a new card!  Yay!  It feels good being back in the game.  My mojo definitely went away for the past couple of weeks, but it's back! (I hope!)  This is a card I actually started a week ago.  I knew one stamp I wanted to work with, and went from there.  I got the stamp embossed, got the digi colored, the card all put together....and realized I had absolutely no idea what to do about embellishments.  So, the card sat.  And sat.  In the middle of my craft table, mocking me.  Finally tonight, I remembered I had some shell necklaces I could take apart.  How perfect!  Or....would have been perfect if I could find the necklaces.  Sad to say I probably threw them away in the move last summer.  LOL  Lucky for me, as I was going through my (recently neglected) beading supplies I was able to find some shells.  Not exactly what I was going for, but I think it turned out alright.

The digi stamp is by Michelle Perkett, and colored using Copic markers and stickles.  (By the way, Michelle is having a contest to name her new mermaid digi, so head on over here to play along!)  The seaweed stamp is by Posh Impressions and is called Twisting Leaf Frame.  This was the stamp that inspired the card...I got it at a used stamp sale and immediately thought of Michelle's mermaids.  Originally I had wanted to stamp it and color it in using my Copics.....then I realized it was a solid stamp and not an outline.  I searched everywhere and realized the only green ink I have is this odd olive chalk color...definitely not what I wanted.  Then I remembered I have this awesome Stampendous Stamp n Stuff embossing powder in Kaleidoscope and some pretty green paper....and the frame was born.  I actually ended up liking it a lot more than my original idea.  In the top picture you can't really see it, but it's très shiny. Here's a picture that shows the shiny a little more.  I love how the embossing shines in different greens, golds and blue...

Ok,enough about that stamp. LOL The pool and sand papers are from DCWV's The Photo Real Stack 3. Shells and pearls are in the "I picked up a very long time ago and have no idea where they came from" pile. Sorry!

I didn't create this for any challenges.  I just wanted to use my new stamp and see what I came up with.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the card.  Thanks for stopping by, and we'll see you tomorrow when I'll have even more cards to post! (Hopefully!!!)

I Have the Best Mom....

Life's been a little crazy lately....I've been so tired I just haven't felt like doing anything, emotions have been rollercoastering like you would not believe... Yesterday I had a *slight* scare at the doctor...nothing too bad and the doctor said it's very common, especially early in the pregnancy, but I still had a minor freak-out.  DH and I talked about it and I calmed down and resolved to think positive....but it's just not that easy to get rid of that little niggle of doubt in the back of your mind.  Anyway, my mom came over to visit and gave me a little prezzie that really helped to take my mind off things.  She has recently won a number of challenges, including a few over at Anita Be Stampin'.  She knows I just adore this particular stamp set, but am having money issues so have been unable to buy it for myself.  With one of her challenge wins, she bought me this fabulous set!  Isn't it cute!

Love Moo - Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp Set

For some reason I just love these little cows, and they make me smile whenever I look at them.  It may seem like a silly, little thing, but it was just what I needed.

Mom always knows a way to take my mind off the bad things and make me laugh.  She's always there to support me.  Even though I'm "all grown up" she can still make everything ok with a phone call, or just a hug.  I couldn't have a better mother...she's the absolute best.  If I end up being half the mother to my child that she is to me, little Bean is going to be very blessed.

I love you, mama!

Hee Hee!!

So, a few posts ago I mentioned how I have babies on the brain.  I guess that's because......I'm pregnant!  Yay!!  =)  Yes, DH and I are expecting our first child.  We're so stoked.  We spent all evening after work running around telling the family.

One of the first family members we told was my mom...and it was quite funny. I told her earlier today that I needed her and her husband's opinion on a card before I posted it on my blog.  Here is the card:

Now, my mom loves elephants, so I knew she would love this card.  On the inside I wrote "Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!  We love you!" and signed me and DH.  Mom looks at the card, reads the inside, and just says that she loves it and it's cute.  I ask her "Did you read the inside?"  She says "Yes..." with this what-the-heck look.  I said "So...congratulations, GRANDMA..."  You could see the moment it hit her what I was saying...she teared up.  It was fabulous.  =)

One of the parts about tonight DH and I laughed the most about was how many people said "Good job."  For some reason that just cracked us up.  Good job?  Gold star? Good work, here's a cookie....

Ok, off to get some sleep now.  Goodnight!!

Edit: I forgot to mention, the elephant digi is from Anne Bodil over at Bodil's Scrappeverden.  She's got some AWESOME freebies...go check them out!

Feel the Love!!

Today when looking through the blogs I follow I found a wonderful surprise!  The wonderful, talented, sweet-as-pie Lyn over at Spyder's Corner has presented me with an award!!  (If you haven't checked out Lyn's site, you should!  She is hilarious, and has an awesome freebie every week!  She's also started doing a spot the difference game, which is a blast!)

Here's the award...

and here's the rules...

This award is to highlight lesser-known blogs of worth!  When a person is presented with this award, if they choose to participate, they post saying they accept this award and present it to 3-5 blogs they deem worthy of following.    Since this award is for lesser-known blogs, please try to pick ones with few followers (I used 100 as my max).

There are so many blogs out there that I just adore....but here are a few of my favorites (if Spyder hadn't already received the award, she would definitely be on this list!).  If you've never visited them, please do!  They are all sweet, funny, talented women who deserve applause!!
Vicki over at Songbird's Nest
Charlene over at Charlene's Card Creations
Gina over at Gina Speak
Guylou over at Guylou's Oh La La
Anita over at The Snoring Yorkie

Mwah!!

**EDIT** On 3/1/12 the lovely Charlene at Charlene's Card Creations has given this lovely award back to me.  What a doll!  =D  Thank you, sweetie!

Denim and Lace

It's time for another Anita Be Stampin' challenge.  Yay!! =)  This week we were challenged to create a card inspired by denim and vintage lace using only dark blue, light blue, cream, brown and other neutral(s) of your choice.  I had a ton of fun with this challenge!  I decided to combine it with a couple of others.  First is One Crazy Stamper's sketch of the month:

Second is the Desert Islands Craft Challenge.  It's an itinerary challenge, where you use three or more of the following itinerary items:

Brenda's Itinerary

1. Make it square
3. Handmade flower
4. Hand colored image
5. 2 or more patterned papers
6. Pearls
7. Twine
8. No sentiment on the front
9. Distressing
10. Birthday Theme

I used #1, 4, 6 and 8.

Here is my card!

Estella (one of Anita's AWESOME stamps found here) was colored using Copic markers.  The paper behind her are ripped jeans from the Me & My Big Ideas Urban Bling paper pack.  The brown and cream panels were textured using a Cuttlebug folder and my Texture Boutique.  Add some gems, flowers, pearls and lace...and voila!!

I hope you enjoyed!  Thank you for stopping by!

It's a Boy!

Digital Tuesday is have a celebratory blog hop!  It is their 100th challenge, and that's definitely something to celebrate!  So, if you haven't guessed, their challenge is....Celebrations!

With one SIL recently giving birth to twins and another SIL due to give birth in the next few months...is it any wonder I have babies on the brain?  So I decided to create a "congratulations for the new baby" card.  Here it is:

The image is from Digi Doodle Shop.  Isn't it just adorable?  I've been itching to use it ever since I got it.  (My mother tells me there's a picture of me like this in my dad's boots when I was a just a little bit.  Shhh, don't tell!)  The images were colored using Copics and spica markers.  Papers edged in Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Digital Tuesday #100: Celebrations
My Time To Craft # 130: Infants
Scrap-Creations: Kids
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes (Optional: Something Old - the plaid background paper, which is one of the first paper packs I ever bought.)
KB Cute Monday #5: Anything Goes Using a Digi

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!  Have a great night!  =)

A Sad Day

Yesterday I found out that a coworker's nephew passed away.  It's always sad when death comes too soon.  I got together with the girls at work and we decided I would make the card we give to her to express our sympathy.

This is the card I created tonight:

The image is from It's A Colorful World.  The flowers, leaves and ribbon were colored using copics. The cross was colored using a silver spica pen and a gold leaf pen.  Crystal stickles outline the flower petals.

The sentiment on the inside is: Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
